An organic movement of people drawn to see the weak and vulnerable with God's eyes, and respond by faith with practical love.

Get Involved

Mercy's Refuge depends on the leading of God and the cooperation of his church. We would love to tell you more about how you can be involved! There are lots of ways to participate in showing mercy to the people of Serbia, and I'm sure we haven't thought of them all, if you have an idea that isn't mentioned here we would love to hear about it.

Praying:

We welcome you to join us in praying for Serbia. Our prayers are inspired by the words of 1 Peter 1:18-20 and 2:10 "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but he has now revealed him to you in these last days... Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy." It's our deep desire that the Serbian church grows in truth, unity, and faith to be Jesus' hands and feet to those who don't yet know salvation. We long to see the people of Serbia know God's great mercy and love. Serving the very least in Serbian society is a privilege and reflects God's heart and we pray the local and global church can join together to accomplish that mission.

Giving:

We welcome your financial gifts, as well as the gift of your time and prayers. Financial gifts will go to travel expenses, the support of Christian ministries in Serbia, and practical care for disabled and vulnerable people. Perhaps you have a skill or talent you would like to use to improve the lives of people with disability. Some of the residents of Dom Veternik would benefit from specialized medical and dental care and therapy. If you are interested in their care please contact us.

Mercy's Refuge is not yet a non-profit organization though we are working to that end. As such we are not able to offer tax deductible giving at this time.

Going:

It is our desire to maintain relationship with the staff and residents of Dom Veternik mental institution. Future trips may include:
Medical care
Dental care
Staff training
Work Projects

Adoption:

We believe that children are healthiest when supported at home in a thriving society. However, there are times when a child's best interest is served through adoption. If you are interested in adopting a child from Serbia we encourage you to be well informed and cooporate fully with the Serbian government in the adoption process. Here are some websites that may be helpful:
US State Department - Serbian Adoption
Finding Serbia

We are not an adoption agency and the pictures you see of children on this blog are not intended to be an advocacy of their adoption.

Spreading the Word:

The mission of partnering with God in the extension of mercy to the people of Serbia is not one that can be done alone. Won't you share the word? We welcome you to share our blog posts and this website with your church, friends, and family. We are stronger together!
